BREAKING NEWS: I know I’m a strong guy but what the doctor told me today concerning my injury made me to tears, my unavailability against Arsenal will cost my team so much,I can’t bear this pain anymore because this has always been our dream”, Ousmane Dembele reveals what the doctor told Him today ahead of their return leg against Arsenal next week
Arsenal host Bournemouth in the Premier League but attentions will be drifting towards their huge Champions League second leg in Paris.
Mikel Arteta’s side are chasing the game following a 1-0 defeat to PSG at the Emirates Stadium in which Thomas Partey’s absence was felt in the middle of the park.
Ousmane Dembele scored the only goal of the game after finding a pocket of space to fire brilliantly past David Raya however, Dembele suffered a hamstring injury before the end of the game.
Thierry Henry highlighted PSG’s flaw following Dembele’s withdrawal from the match and after the club’s latest update on his injury, a medical expert has provided further clarification on his chances of playing in Paris
Medical expert provides Ousmane Dembele injury clarification
Taking to X, medical expert Physio Scout, who has given accurate updates on injuries to Gabriel Martinelli and Riccardo Calafiori in the past, has given a further prognosis on Dembele.
The expert stated: “As per the PSG website, Ousmane Dembele has suffered a hamstring injury. Has been described as a “strain” with not much other detail.
“A strain would typically rule him OUT for the return leg vs. Arsenal (2+ weeks).”
Physio Scout did urge caution with the injury and even hinted at some mind games from the French champions within their official update.
They stated: “However, take it with a pinch of salt as the club has not gone into much detail, and have even mentioned his situation is “evolving” and “progressing”. Could be a misinterpretation, and only hamstring tightness.”
Ousmane Dembele’s match statistics v Arsenal
Dembele’s influence on the Champions League semi-final clash was there for all to see as he tormented Jakub Kiwior and William Saliba with his movement and unpredictability.
Playing in the PSG false nine role, the French star dropped deep for his goal but also enjoyed success running beyond the Arsenal back line and stretching the game.
Arsenal are by no means out of the tie and should Dembele fail to recover in time for the second leg, it would force Luis Enrique to change his hand.
Arteta will have Partey back in midfield and allow Mikel Merino to use his physical presence further up the field, meaning the Gunners can play a little more direct to bypass the PSG press.
