Manchester United have started to move in the winter transfer window after yet another home defeat at the hands of Brighton in the Premier League.
According to a story covered by Tutto Mercato Web last night, Man Utd will meet the representatives of Lecce today for the transfer of Patrick Dorgu.
The Italian media outlet have mentioned that the Serie A side are asking for a fee of £33.8million (40 million euros) for their prized asset.
Napoli are also interested in the 20-year-old starlet but they plan to agree a deal now only to secure the player in summer, an option that Lecce would prefer.
However, TMW claim that if Man Utd move in with an offer worth £33.8million, then in the ‘next few days’, Lecce will sell Patrick Dorgu to the Old Trafford outfit.
Should Man Utd sign Patrick Dorgu?
Ruben Amorim needs to sign players that can fit into his 3-4-2-1 system to improve results and LWB is one of the positions he must reinforce.
Natural LBs, Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia, are highly injury prone and therefore, cannot be relied upon. In their absence, Dalot, a natural right sided player has featured in the LWB role.
Patrick Dorgu is naturally a left footed player, who has mainly featured in the LB role over the years.
However, in the current campaign, the youngster has primarily played in the right wing position for the Italian side. So far, in 20 league games, he has netted 3 goals and provided an assist.
Man Utd have leaked 32 goals in 22 Premier League games this term and ideally, they need a proven quality left wing back to reinforce the position, not an inexperienced player like Dorgu. What do you think?
