BREAKING NEWS: we don’t care how their season will be when we sign Him by January,we have already gotten the player’s assurance and we must go in all to sign Him this January,no one can say No to Madrid offer”, Madrid coach Xabi Alonso confirmed Arsenal key player to join Madrid by January
Arsenal’s William Saliba is pleased that Real Madrid reportedly considered signing him.
The France international has been speaking to Téléfoot and Le10 Sport have relayed his comments about Real Madrid.
Saliba has established himself as one of the key figures at Arsenal under Mikel Arteta. Last month, the Premier League side rewarded him with a new contract until 2030.
Prior to committing his long-term future to Arsenal, there were reports of Real Madrid interest. Back in July, we covered claims from France that Real Madrid were tempting the centre-back to join them.
On September 19th, AS reported Los Blancos didn’t sign the 24-year-old last summer because he would have been more expensive than Dean Huijsen. They also stated Real Madrid would try to convince him to join them in 2026.
Later that month, the same newspaper said Saliba is ‘irreplaceable for Arteta’, days before he signed an extension.
Téléfoot mentioned Real Madrid trying to lure him and that it must have been tempting.
“Of course, it’s always tempting when a club like that tries to lure you, but for me, [my desire] was to stay at Arsenal. First, win trophies, before thinking about anything else,” he said.
The Frenchman is in contention to achieve major success with the Gunners this season. Arsenal are leading the league table, six points ahead of second placed Manchester City.
Saliba and Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé were together at AS Bondy’s academy.
The Arsenal star was asked whether the Bondy connection can be reestablished at Real Madrid next season.
Responding to that, Saliba explained: “No, no, the Bondy connection is with the French national team, for now.”
