Paul Merson tells Arsenal to sign Alexander Isak
Former Arsenal star Paul Merson has urged Arsenal to “break the bank” to go and sign Newcastle ace Alexander Isak in the transfer market.
It comes as the Gunners continue to be linked with a potential switch for the forward, with the search ongoing for a clinical option in those ranks.
Any move for Isak is likely to come at some cost though, with the Magpies quoting a huge £150million to tear him away from them.
Merson believes that’s a risk worth taking, telling Sky Sports: “If I was Arsenal and I had the money, I’d go out and buy Isak.
“I’d break the bank for him. He’s the best of the best, he takes Arsenal to the next level.”

Arsenal set for transfer boost with Mika Biereth move
Former Arsenal star Mika Biereth could be set to net the Gunners some extra cash in the January transfer window if he makes a move.
The striker came through the Hale End academy ranks, enjoying several spells on loan before joining Sturm Graz permanently in 2024.
While he was sold for just £4million, a big move could be in the works for the 21-year-old after an impressive start to life in Austria.
That’s because, according to Fabrizio Romano, Biereth has agreed personal terms to join AS Monaco in the January transfer window.
Club-to-club talks are still set to start to agree a fee over a deal, with it unclear exactly how much could seal a switch.
Arsenal, as a result, could be in for a slight boost due to a sell-on clause included in the striker’s deal.

Aston Villa eye ex-Arsenal ace Donyell Malen
Arsenal’s academy has been full of talent over the years, including Donyell Malen, who featured after a switch from Ajax.
The forward featured at the club for two years, before leaving for PSV Eindhoven and then Borussia Dortmund.
Arsenal let him leave for just over £500,000, with his rise to the top showing a clear mistake in letting him go.
With his displays, it has attracted interest from Aston Villa as The Athletic reports that former manager Unai Emery is interested in a move.
