BREAKING-Sheikh Jassim considering Manchester United legend for key role after takeover

Sheikh Jassim is considering offering a role to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at the club – if he wins his takeover battle for Manchester United.

The Qatari’s hopes of taking over at Old Trafford have increased in the last week since he submitted a fifth-and-final offer for the club.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe had been the frontrunner as he offered the Glazers a chance to remain at the club as shareholders.

However, Jassim’s last bid values the club at around £5bn and the pendulum has swung in his favour.

The Qatari has set-up the Nine Two Foundation, which was listed as UK company last week and is a nod to the class of ’92.

But in a bid to win over United supporters, Jassim will seek to include club legends in roles within Old Trafford.

According to the Mirror, Solskjaer is in line for a return in some capacity.

The Norwegian was sacked as manager in November 2021 after a disastrous run of form.

Solskjaer guided United to third and second-place finishes during his two full seasons at the club, and is a club legend for the ten years he spent at the Theatre of Dreams as a player.

In an interview with the Athletic last month, Solskjaer floated the idea of returning to the club.

‘I’ve got another job in me, if it’s the right chance and exciting enough,’ Solskjaer said.

‘There are so many clubs, but I’m not going to work just for the sake of working. It has to be something special, a new culture, or a club that really excites me.

‘Or maybe they will want me back at the club [United] in some capacity, who knows?’.
