Marcus Rashford has found himself out of favour at Manchester United under Ruben Amorim. The Portuguese boss has made it clear that he isn’t impressed by the 27-year-old’s training performances and also his off-field activities.
Therefore, the forward has seemingly played his last game for his boyhood club unless something changes dramatically.
He has been linked with a move away from the club and David Ornstein recently said that Rashford’s preference is to join Barcelona.
Therefore, Amorim’s side have been looking at options to replace Rashford if he eventually leaves before the deadline.
Now, The Daily Mail say that Man Utd have identified Wolverhampton Wanderers star Matheus Cunha as a serious target to bolster the attack and have been on the trail of him before making a potential swoop.
However, purchasing him won’t be cheap as Man Utd will have to splash around £70m to secure his service. Apart from the record Premier League champions, Arsenal, Aston Villa, Tottenham Hotspur and Nottingham Forest are also keen on signing him, hence, United will have to overcome stiff competition to seal the deal.
Cunha is comfortable playing out wide and in the centre-forward position. But, he has been showcasing his best in the left side of the CAM role in the 3-4-2-1 formation at Molineux Stadium.
None of his other suitors play with this formation and only at Old Trafford he will be able to play in his best position under Amorim if he were to join.
The Brazilian has been in excellent form thus far this season, making 14 goal contributions in 22 Premier League appearances.
He has proven his worth in the English top-flight in recent campaigns so he would be an excellent acquisition for United.
