Brighton interested in Arsenal star who might have won them the league
Brighton might have the last laugh over Arsenal, who signed Leandro Trossard from them in what is one of the best January transfers ever. But the Seagulls are coming for their revenge as they want to deplete the Gunners of one of their most underrated players.
When you think back to some of the classic games this season, Arsenal are involved in most of them. This is because they’ve made a habit out of fighting until the end, valuing every point close to their hearts in this title race.
One player who has really inhabited this mentality is Reiss Nelson. The England international winger came off the bench in Arsenal’s home win against Bournemouth, a match which they went 2-0 down in. After he came on, he provided an assist and scored a stellar goal from a corner in the last kick of the match, to make it 3-2 to Arsenal.
What’s important to remember is that Reiss Nelson is a free agent this summer, if he doesn’t commit to Arsenal. Talks are ongoing between the two parties, but it doesn’t look likely that Arsenal can guarantee the promising 23-year-old more game time next season, despite his heroics in the title race.
Nelson has scored 3 goals this season, all of which from the bench. Therefore, it is surprising to see him not picking up as many minutes. Unfortunately for him, though, it might be the time to move away from his boyhood club as they have far too many options in attack to facilitate his development.
Brighton has really stepped it up a gear in recent weeks and even mounting a late push for a top four finish. Therefore, they’d be an excellent location for Nelson to continue his development. After impressing on multiple loan spells away from Arsenal, he’s shown he can do it in different leagues, but the Premier League is the ultimate goal for any player. According to the Daily Mail, it could be Brighton who snatch up Reiss Nelson for free.
