Club pushing to convince ‘special’ Arsenal player he should join them; Gunners are now worried
Manchester City are working hard to try and convince Bukayo Saka that he would be better off joining them, with 90min reporting that Arsenal are worried about the interest in their youngster.
Saka has long been considered the jewel in the crown when it comes to the Gunners’ crop of incredible young players. He has been in the first-team for some time now, making 140 appearances already.
Understandably, Arsenal want to tie Saka down to fresh terms. 90min reports that talks have been ongoing over a new deal for most of the year. His current contract expires in 2024.
Arsenal worried about Manchester City interest in Saka
But there is interest from elsewhere.
City being admirers of Saka is nothing new. ESPN reported before the end of last season that Pep Guardiola’s men and Liverpool could make a move in the summer.
Obviously, nothing would come of those links. But 90min reports that the Cityzens are working hard behind the scenes to convince Saka that he would be better off at the Etihad Stadium.
Saka would surely love nothing more than to achieve all of his goals and ambitions while wearing an Arsenal shirt. However, he is too good a player not to reach the very top of the game. He is a ‘special’ talent.
The good news for the Gunners is that they are making progress at a rapid rate. They now sit top of the Premier League table after blowing Tottenham away in the North London derby.
That will certainly come into Saka’s thinking ahead of his contract expiring in 2024. And he may well feel that he remains best off at the Emirates where is playing regularly and adored by the supporters.
But he also has time on his side. He does not need to rush into a decision at this stage.
If Arsenal’s start to the season is a false dawn, he can keep his options open.
