‘Complete’ player now set for talks with PSG, after claims Arsenal were just £8.5m away from signing him – Romano
Serie a player was reportedly the subject of a bid from Arsenal this summer but is now set for fresh talks with PSG.
Fabrizio Romano says the French champions are set for discussions with the Italian international over adding him to their strikeforce.
It was reported in June that Arsenal were just £8.5 million away from signing the striker from Sassoulo, but have since signed Gabriel Jesus.
With Eddie Nketiah signing a new deal and other areas of the Gunners’ XI needing work, it seems unlikely that Mikel Arteta will sign another striker this summer.
Gianluca Scamacca set for PSG talks after Arsenal bid
There is no agreement in place yet between the Italian outfit and the French champions, but they seem capable of affording the asking price.
PSG have an imbalanced frontline with big egos, and players who do not press so much and those teams always need foils.
Perhaps Scamacca would not be guaranteed as much gametime in Paris as he would have got at Arsenal if he had gone there.
But Champions League football and huge wages are on offer in the French capital, and it seems PSG now have a freer run at him.
Borussia Dortmund and Newcastle United have both been linked with the Italian in the past and the latter are still yet to sign a striker this summer.
But PSG are in the box seat as it stands and Arsenal fans will not feel they have missed out so long as Jesus does the business in a red and white shirt.
