CONFIRMED Kylian Mbappe replacement call speaks volumes about £64m Manchester United deal

Rasmus Hojlund’s transfer to Manchester United is a costly one. According to Sky Sports, the club will pay an initial fee of £64 million, which may grow to £72 million.

In the long run, the move may appear to be excellent value. Hojlund, 20, has the makings of a mega-star.

How many times have we seen clubs sign excellent young strikers and wished Manchester United had acted sooner rather than later? Victor Osimhen, worth £140 million, is one example.

Nonetheless, pundits will raise the subject of value frequently this season and next, until Hojlund demonstrates that he was money well spent by a club that has not always invested wisely

Manchester United has won the race for Rasmus Hojlund.

Manchester United were not competing with themselves to sign Rasmus Hojlund. Paris Saint-Germain, the Ligue 1 champions, competed.

According to L’Equipe, Hojlund did not consider PSG’s interest since he was so keen on signing for Manchester United.

It says a lot about Hojlund’s talent that he was the striker PSG wanted to replace superstar forward Kylian Mbappe with.

Mbappe’s departure is expected, with the France international striker aiming to force a move to Real Madrid, according to The Times.

Instead of waiting until next year, the forward aims to leave this summer.PSG is now in need of a new striker, having already lost Lionel Messi.

Rasmus Hojlund was their preferred alternative for Mbappe, according to The Athletic, and they made a hefty bid for the Dane.

While Manchester United ended up paying a little more, the fact that Hojlund was selected as Mbappe’s replacement speaks something about his quality.

PSG signed Mbappe when he was only 18 years old. This was in 2017 before he went on to lead France to a World Cup victory. Holland was their most recent attempt to land a future superstar.
