Deadline Day done deal: Man united set to complete the signing of £60m defender instead of cucurella, official bid made, deal set to be completed today

Valencia fear Manchester United could make an approach to sign their captain Jose Gaya on loan before the transfer deadline on Friday, according to Deportes COPE.

The Red Devils are looking for an emergency left-back in the transfer market. They have already agreed terms with Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella, but a deal is far from complete.

United have offered to pay a loan fee of £2 million for the Spaniard, but the Blues want at least £7 million to part ways with the versatile defender. This could be a stumbling block.

Amidst this, the club could consider alternatives. Barcelona’s Marcos Alonso remains on the club’s radar, but Deportes COPE claim that they could make a surprise move for Gaya.

Gaya has spent his entire career with Valencia, but they are fearful that he could leave for United.

Gaya would be a good signing for United
The Spaniard has made over 325 appearances for Los Che since his first-team debut. He has vast experience in La Liga, and has been linked with several big clubs including Barcelona.

In our view, he would be a good signing for the Red Devils. Gaya had a passing accuracy of 81 per cent from left-back last season. He won 2.6 tackles and five duels per game alongside 1.3 clearances.

In the offensive side, he contributed one goal and four assists, but also created 10 big chances. The 28-year-old averaged more than one successful cross per game which is quite impressive.

Gaya has a downside of losing possession, but he would suit the manager’s playing style. He is currently valued at €30 million by Transfermarkt, but could be available on an initial loan.
