DEAL CLOSE: Manchester United contact agent of 23-goal striker over transfer, says Fabrizio Romano
Manchester United are in contact with the agents of striker Randal Kolo Muani, claims Fabrizio Romano.
Randal Kolo Muani is one of the candidates to lead the line for Manchester United as Erik ten Hag looks to reshape the club’s forward line.
Muani has replaced Anthony Martial in the France squad and is an option to do so for United, along with or alongside Rasmus Hojlund.
Romano has told GiveMeSport that Manchester United have spoken with Muani’s agents, and know it is not a straightforward deal to do.
Eintracht Frankfurt prefer to keep Muani
Romano explained: “For Kolo Muani, the price tag is around €100 million.
“It’s true that Manchester United had some contact in the last two weeks to explore the conditions of the story, but Eintracht want €100m and also, they still hope to keep the player for one more season and sell him in summer 2024.”
Eintracht Frankfurt only signed Muani last summer and would understandably want to maximise their time with him. He is under contract at the club until 2027.
Last season he struck 23 goals for the club and also netted for France in the World Cup semi-final.
Not all the money may be required instantly
A fee of 100 million Euros works out at £85 million. This is far beyond what Manchester United would be able to pay this summer.
However, a recent report from The Mail claimed Manchester United would not have to pay all of this at once.
It claimed the German side would be willing to accept £50-60 million as a basic payment this summer.
Muani is an alternative to Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund, with The Athletic reporting Manchester United have held talks over both.
Muani praised by Bruno Fernandes
Muani was picked out for praise by Bruno Fernandes recently. In an Instagram post promoting a football stock market company, he endorsed Muani as a player to snap up.
The Manchester United star said: “I think he’s doing really well. We saw it in the World Cup that he was good.
“But I think now, during the season he’s been doing even better. He probably now has to have the next step to a big club.”
