The center-forward position has been a problematic area for Manchester United over the last few years. They purchased Romelu Lukaku during Jose Mourinho’s tenure to address this issue.

However, he never managed to flourish in his career at Old Trafford. After letting him leave, former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer opted to keep faith in Anthony Martial.

The Frenchman struggled with injury problems before leaving as a free agent last summer. Erik ten Hag signed Rasmus Hojlund ahead of last campaign with a view to the long-term future.

However, the 21-year-old hasn’t lived up to expectations. Joshua Zirkzee was purchased last summer to support the Dane, but he has found settling down in his new surroundings difficult.

The duo have scored only five goals combined in the Premier League thus far this season. So, new head coach, Ruben Amorim is said to be willing to sign a new striker once again.

TalkSPORT state that Man Utd are interested in RB Leipzig star Benjamin Sesko but Arsenal are also in this race. The Gunners were eager to hire him last summer and already made the groundwork for this deal.

The Slovenian is sold on the North London club’s project and is ready to move to the Emirates Stadium over the Red Devils. Therefore, this is a huge blow for Amorim’s side in this race.

Despite Arsenal’s attempt last summer, the player remained at Leipzig for a season to further develop his career but is likely to leave this year. He doesn’t look likely to move in mid-season but a deal can happen at the end of this term with Leipzig wanting around £70m.

After Gabriel Jesus’ serious knee injury, Mikel Arteta only has Kai Havertz as the CF option. However, the German hasn’t been able to showcase consistency this season.

Sesko is one of the most exciting young strikers in the world and has been in fine form this campaign, making 17 goal contributions in all competitions.

In your view, who should Man Utd look for if they eventually fail to hire Sesko?
