DEAL CONFIRMED: Arsenal want to agree deal for ‘incredible’ player by early next week – in time for North London derby
Arsenal want to wrap up a deal for Ukrainian forward Mykhaylo Mudryk before Shakhtar Donetsk travel to Turkey for a mid-season training camp next week, according to a report from The Sun.
The Gunners are continuing their pursuit of the Ukraine international. The Sun reports that they have now made a £62 million bid for the 21-year-old after seeing an offer of £55 million rejected.
It appears that they may not get a deal across the line just yet. The Sun suggests that Shakhtar want at least £50 million up front for Mudryk. Arsenal’s initial bid involved £37.5 million being paid initially.
Arsenal want Mudryk deal wrapped up by end of next week
The report claims that the two clubs are still haggling, which would suggest that they are still short of the £50 million mark for the up-front fee.
But it would appear that Arsenal want a deal done imminently. The Sun claims that Shakhtar will travel to Turkey to train next week. And Mikel Arteta’s men want a deal finalised before they make the trip next Tuesday.
The good news is that personal terms will not hold up a deal. Fabrizio Romano suggested on Monday that the forward is ready to sign for Arsenal. And thus, it would not take five minutes to thrash out a contract with the youngster.
It does appear that the two clubs are edging closer and closer to an agreement. Shakhtar have seemingly been willing to compromise on their demands. And Arsenal have already made an improved bid – two days into the transfer window.
If the move seems inevitable, it makes little sense for the two clubs to delay reaching an agreement. Obviously, they will want the best deal possible for their respective sides. But clearly, there is a willingness to agree a deal.
And that is a big boost for Arsenal. Mudryk is an ‘incredible‘ talent with a huge ceiling.
Judging by the latest reports, he may be in contention to make his debut in the North London derby – if Arsenal get their way.
