Lille defender Thomas Meunier has declared his love for Manchester United, even stating that he’d cycle all the way to England if they were to express interest in him.

Meunier has enjoyed a distinguished football career, playing for some of Europe’s biggest clubs including Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund.

He has won trophies in France, Belgium and Germany and is undoubtedly one of the best full-backs of his generation. Meunier has also been to a World Cup and a European Championship.

Meunier has been linked to United at various points of his career, but a transfer never materialised.

In 2022, it was claimed that the Red Devils wanted him as a potential replacement for Aaron Wan-Bissaka, whose future at the club was uncertain at the time.

However, Borussia Dortmund resisted any interest in Meunier and he ended up staying at Signal Iduna Park.

Even when he was at PSG, Meunier was regularly mentioned to be on United’s radar.

Now approaching the dawn of his career, the Belgian has admitted just how much he loves United, revealing that he tries to watch the club at least once every season.

It’s highly unlikely that Meunier will be moving to United this summer but if it were to happen, he has confessed that he would not think twice about the opportunity.

The defender told Gazet van Antwerpen [via Metro], “If they (Man Utd) ever ask me, I’ll cycle there!”

“But maybe it’s better this way. Suppose I play there and have a bad time. I wouldn’t want to hate Manchester United, because I love that club so much.”

“I went to watch them a few weeks ago, against Bilbao. In with the fans, singing, à fond (fully).”

“Je suis un vrai. (I am a real one). I go to watch them at least once every season.”

He added, “But of all the home games I’ve seen in all those years, they’ve only won two. You have to have a self cruelty side to be a United supporter, right?”
