Man Utd are in talks to sign Matthijs de Ligt from Bayern Munich and the player is open to agreeing a move to Old Trafford.

However, as per a renowned Bundesliga expert, the Red Devils are only willing to pay half of the asking fee demanded by the German giants.

Christian Falk, claims Bayern value De Ligt at £59.4m (70 million euros) and Man Utd are only prepared to bid half i.e. £29.7m (35 million euros) to sign the defender.

The Head of Football for Bild/Sport Bild stated (CO):

“FC Bayern have to sell players in order to be able to continue purchasing. Erik ten Hag, who is currently negotiating a contract extension with Man Utd, would like to bring in Matthijs de Ligt,”

“Accordingly, ten Hag should be prepared to pay a high transfer fee for de Ligt. Bayern want up to €70m, but Manchester United should only want to pay half.”

The Bavarians are looking to strengthen their central defense by signing Jonathan Tah from Bundesliga champions, Bayer Leverkusen.

Two years ago, Bayern Munich paid a mammoth fee of 77 million euros to sign the De Ligt from Italian Serie A side, Juventus.

The 24-year-old has not been a regular starter at the Allianz, still, it will be hugely surprising if they allow the center half to leave for a fee less than half of what they splashed to lure him.

De Ligt was a superstar at Ajax under the management of Erik ten Hag, who would hope to get the best out of him at Man Utd.

It would be a huge coup if United are actually able to secure his signing for just £29.7m.
