Manchester United have already confirmed the agreement to sign Matheus Cunha from Wolves this summer.
Now, they are ready to splash the cash to secure their second signing of the transfer window.
Reports in the media have already indicated that Bryan Mbeumo has decided to snub Champions League sides to join Man Utd.
As per the latest updates, money is the main reason why the Cameroonian is prepared to join a side that will play no part in European competitions next season.
As per today’s version of The Chronicle, Newcastle United were prepared to negotiate a fee of more than £50million to lure the Brentford star, but the deal crumbled when Man Utd ‘waved’ ridiculous wages at the player.
The media outlet state that Mbeumo currently earns around £45,000 a week, and now wants his wages to be more than quadrupled i.e. over £180,000 a week, to sign for the new club.
At St. James’ Park, the highest earners take home around £150,000 a week, so the deal is not feasible for them.
However, The Chronicle state that after handing £200,000 a week to Cunha, Man Utd are ready to ‘bow down’ to the demands on wages and from agents to sign Mbeumo.
Over on social media, the Old Trafford supporters are celebrating the fact that United, who finished 15th in the Premier League, still have the power to attract stars.
In all fairness, in recent years, they have paid over the odds, in terms of fees and wages, to lure their transfer targets. However, on the field, the results have not improved.
As far as the transfer fee is concerned, The i Paper have revealed that Brentford have told Man Utd they have to match the fee they paid for Cunha i.e. £62.5million to secure the signing of Bryan Mbeumo.
