Declan Rice now shares what Arsenal players tell him ‘a lot of the time’ in training, fans will love it
Declan Rice has revealed that Arsenal and England players are all telling the 25-year-old midfielder he does one thing ‘too much’ during games.
The former West Ham captain has been a revelation for the Gunners since arriving from the east London side for a club-record £105m, with Rice enjoying his most productive season yet having hit double digits in goals for the first time.
A potential option for the left-sided no. 8 role, Rice’s game has developed tenfold since being recruited by Mikel Arteta, who has managed to take the England international to new heights with more aspects of the midfielder’s game yet to be unlocked.
And Rice has now shared what his teammates keep saying he does too much of.
Rice told he runs too much by Arsenal and England teammates
Speaking on Lions’ Den, the Arsenal superstar revealed that his north London teammates, as well as those in the England camp, keep telling him that he runs too much, with the midfielder one of the fittest players in both squads.
Rice played over 50 games for Arsenal last season and this summer has played in every game for England, going the full 120 minutes in each of the Three Lions’ last knockout fixtures that both went into extra-time.
And for Rice’s teammates, they are now bringing up that the 25-year-old just keeps on running, though the midfielder believes that this factor of his game can only help his teammates more in big games.
Rice said: “A lot of the time, the boys at Arsenal, even the boys here, say I run too much, but it’s just a part of me. I love trying to help my teammates, I love winning the ball back, trying to do everything to win the games.”
Arsenal fans will have no complaints over Rice’s love for running
Players who give it their all physically on the pitch are some of the most beloved in the game, with the likes of Mohamed Elneny and Alexis Sanchez earning their reputations at Arsenal because of these aspects to their performances.
And in Rice admitting that his teammates keep telling him that he runs too much, Arsenal fans will have zero complaints in the England international busting a guy every time he steps out on the field.
Indeed, Rice showed in his first season with Arsenal that he has all the tools to become a real legend at the Emirates Stadium, and the midfielder giving it all on the pitch will help in the 25-year-old’s quest to reach that status.
