‘Definitely’: Ray Parlour urges Arsenal to sign £40m star who’s just been knocked out the World Cup
Arsenal legend Ray Parlour was seriously impressed with Moroccan international Azzedine Ounahi last night.
Speaking on TalkSPORT, Parlour has urged the Gunners to sign Ounahi after his fantastic World Cup.
Ounahi’s Morocco side have been the surprise package of the World Cup, and earned plenty of admirers.
They topped their group ahead of the likes of Belgium and Croatia, before defeating Spain and Portugal in the knockout stages.
A number of Moroccan players have put themselves in the shop window after performing above expectations.
Ounahi has already been linked with Leicester City, with L’Equipe suggesting he could cost up to £40m.
Newcastle are also keen on the 22-year-old midfielder, who dazzled again against France last night.
His midfielder partner Sofyan Amrabat has also stood out, and Spurs are the latest team linked a move for him.
Hakim Ziyech, who has struggled during his time at Chelsea, has looked like the player who starred for Ajax.
Parlour was really impressed with Ounahi throughout the tournament, and enjoyed how little playing on the biggest stage worried him.
He now wants to see the Angers number eight make a move to north London.
Ounahi really impressed Arsenal legend Parlour
When asked about Ounahi’s performances last night, Parlour said: “[He’s] different class. [I’d] definitely [take him at Arsenal].
“I think with that performance, and from what I’ve seen of him at this tournament.
“He’s not fazed by a big game, which it is for your country.
“He’s so comfortable, he’s always on the half-turn, and always looking to probe and get balls in behind the full-backs.
The World Cup is a fantastic platform for players to showcase their talents to a wider audience.
Ounahi has certainly done that, and Parlour is unlikely to be the only person who was impressed by his performances.
He’s been one of the best dribblers among central midfielders in Europe this season, regularly pops up in forward areas.
If Arsenal were interested, he would be an exciting alternative to Granit Xhaka.
However, the Gunners have their sights set on another midfielder right now.
