Despite all my efforts to lure him to Arsenal He still choose Man United over Us’: Trossard confirmed His £40m Belgian teammate have agreed personal terms to join Man united next week
Manchester United have set their sight on PSV Eindhoven winger, Johan Bakayoko according to Christopher Michel of SPORT1.
The Belgium International has been one of the best performers in the Eredivisie this season and his performances have helped PSV remain unbeaten, becoming the only team with a 100% win record in Europe this season.
United have been grappling with a non-existent threat from the right wing as Jadon Sancho and Antony have a combined zero goals for United this season. Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho have predominantly operated from the left wing. While Garnacho has been impressive, Rashford is currently facing a downturn of form.
Hence, United have earmarked Bakayoko to provide the necessary threat from the right wing which United have lacked all season.
Bakayoko has a contract that keeps him at The Philips Stadion until June 2026, and the 20-year-old has an estimated market value of £34.7m.
Exciting winger
Bakayoko is one of the most exciting young wingers in Europe this season and has been making waves with his performances for Peter Bosz’s side this season.
Breaking into the first-team squad in the 2021/22 season, Bakayoko has become a key figure in the final third. His notable contributions in the 2023/24 campaign include four goals and 13 assists in 27 appearances. Bakayoko’s impact has been crucial in PSV’s dominant start to the Eredivisie season, winning all 16 games.
The young forward’s impressive displays have attracted interest from high-profile clubs, with Manchester United reportedly considering him as a potential target.
Known for his creativity in the final third, Bakayoko is a proficient chance creator and a goal-scoring threat. His strengths include excelling in shoulder-to-shoulder duels, showcasing good physical strength, and demonstrating speed over long distances. Despite occasionally struggling to create separation from a standstill, Bakayoko compensates with excellent changes of direction, balance, and footwork.
Additionally, he actively presses opponents, forces mistakes, tracks back effectively, and holds his own in aerial duels, thanks to his jumping reach and body strength.
His physicality, pace, and skill align with the demands of the Premier League and it remains to be seen if he will end up at Old Trafford as a host of other European heavyweights are vying for his signature.
