‘e is now back from injury’: Sky Sports reporter says 22-year-old is in Arsenal’s squad to face PSV Eindhoven tomorrow – nobody expect this – player not Jurrien Timber

Arsenal take on PSV Eindhoven this week having already secured their place in the next stages of the Champions League.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is nursing a few problems within the squad and will likely make a few changes to both the XI and squad to face the Dutch side.

A couple of big name players are among the changes Arteta could make. Brazilian forward Gabriel Martinelli will definitely miss out, while there are doubts over the fitness of Bukayo Saka as well.

However, speaking on Sky Sports just now, presenter Vicky Gomersall has said that while Martinelli won’t be travelling with the Gunners, Saka will indeed be part of the travelling party.

“They were without Martinelli and Saka today. Gabriel Martinelli is unwell and won’t be travelling to Eindhoven today and Saka’s load is being managed but he will be heading out with the squad,” Gomersall said.

Quite whether Mikel Arteta opts to go with Saka against PSV. Saka has been outstanding all season and has been tipped to lead Arsenal to the title if he can stay fit.

Saka needs a rest against PSV
There is simply no need for Mikel Arteta to go to the Netherlands and play Bukayo Sakaa

Given how much players and managers like to complain about the amount of football they have to play at the moment, it would make no sense to play him.

Saka himself will probably be looking for a bit of a day off as well. There are plenty of players in this Arsenal squad who can come in and do the business so Gunners fans will be a touch annoyed if Saka is in the starting XI.

Arsenal have put themselves into a position to be able to afford to rest such players. Arteta, then, needs to take the right call here and do what’s best for the club longer-term.
