Arsenal are plotting a deal to hijack Liverpool’s move for highly-rated Fluminense midfielder Andre Trindade, according to various reports.
The Gunners have stepped up their preparation for the January transfer window in recent weeks after their storming start to the 2023/24 season. Mikel Arteta’s men are second in the Premier League following last week’s 1-0 win over Manchester City, extending their unbeaten run in the league.

According to journalist Thiago Ferreira, ‘Arsenal are interested’ in signing the 22-year-old but face competition from Liverpool. Recent reports from TEAMtalk have claimed the Brazilian is still on Jurgen Klopp’s radar after failing to land him in the summer.
Links between Arsenal and Trindade come after Edu was spotted at Fluminense over the international break. The Gunners’ technical director visited the Brazilian’s training facility on Friday to learn more on the club’s training methodology and DNA.
Fluminense’s participation in the Copa Libertadores stopped the Reds from signing Trindade in the summer, but the situation could change at the start of the year. It’s expected that Liverpool could attempt to strike a deal in January, but Arsenal could look to use their contacts in Brazil to hijack the move.
The Gunners signed Gabriel Martinelli and Marquinhos from Brazil in the past and Edu Gaspar’s connections in the continent could work in their favour in getting one over their Premier League rivals.
