Arsenal are monitoring the availability of Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
The Gunners are in the market for a new striker and are keeping tabs on whether a cut-price deal could be made for the 26-year-old if the Toffees are relegated this season.
Mikel Arteta is an admirer of Calvert-Lewin’s abilities when fit and the Spaniard is ready to launch a surprise move and sign him despite his injury issues.
The Everton striker’s star has dropped at Goodison Park in recent years on the back of two injury-plagued seasons.
He has scored only one Premier League goal this term – from 11 matches and just 735 minutes of action – and that follows a similarly disrupted 2021-22 in which he scored five goals from 17 games in all competitions.
Calvert-Lewin has missed 48 first-team games for the Merseyside club since the 2016/17 season, including six matches in the current campaign.
When fit, however, Calvert-Lewin has found his way to goal and scored 59 in 203 appearances across all competitions for the Blues.

Football Insider sources revealed on Friday (31 March) that a ‘fire sale’ is likely at Goodison Park if they suffer relegation this season.
It is understood that other Premier League clubs would also join the race to sign Calvert-Lewin should Everton be relegated, although the Gunners are deemed to be frontrunners.
Sean Dyche is a fan of Calvert-Lewin and deems him a key player at Everton, although the newly-appointed manager understands that he will be one of hte first players out of the door if the club were relegated.
