Oliver Glasner thought Lisandro Martinez should have been shown a red card for his foul on Daichi Kamada in Crystal Palace’s goalless draw against Manchester United.

Centre-back Martinez was shown a yellow card by referee David Coote for a challenge which appeared to show the Manchester United defender jumping with both feet in the air for to win the ball from Kamada.

The operational hub for all Premier League matches, which provides information directly from Match Centre, the VAR Hub and PGMOL experts, tweeted on X: “The referee issued a yellow card to Martinez for a challenge on Kamada.

“VAR checked for a potential red card and confirmed the referee’s call of no red card, deeming this was a reckless challenge and made no contact with Kamada.”

“Fortunately, I think he touched the ball and not the shin of our player because I think he would have broken his leg.

“The referee decided no red card. I don’t want to complain about the referee’s decision.

“We made many more wrong decisions than the referee today.”

When asked if he was surprised that Martinez was not shown a red, Glasner said: “For me, it also looked really heavy.
