‘Every last ounce’: Chris Sutton predicts who’ll win Everton v Arsenal
Chris Sutton has predicted on BBC Sport that Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal will win against Sean Dyche’s Everton away from home at Goodison Park in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
The former Chelsea striker and BBC Sport pundit believes that Arsenal will pick up all three points from the encounter courtesy of 2-0 win.
Former Arsenal and Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson has also backed the Gunners to win the Premier League game, predicting on SportsKeeda that the North London club will get a 3-0 result in their favour.
CHRIS SUTTON AND PAUL MERSON ON EVERTON V ARSENAL
Sutton wrote: “Arsenal rested a few players in their FA Cup tie against Manchester City and paid the price.
“They still played pretty well at Etihad Stadium though and I think they have had a really good window – signing Jorginho, Cedric Trossard and Jakub Kiwior to strengthen their squad for their title push.
“Everton, in contrast, did not sign anyone and it looks like their new manager Sean Dyche has got a huge job on his hands to keep them up – he’s actually lost a player, with Antony Gordon moving to Newcastle.
“We know the Goodison Park crowd will get behind the team and, the way that Dyche manages, he will be trying to extract every last ounce of effort out of his players. So, the endeavour will be there, but I still don’t see Everton getting a win or even managing a draw.
“Arsenal are just far too good for them and, as I said on the Monday Night Club, getting the Everton job now is like being made captain of the Titanic, a couple of hours after it hit the iceberg.”
Merson wrote: “Everton are in trouble, and I don’t see how Sean Dyche can turn them around.
“He can make them hard to beat, but they need to start winning matches. I’ve never seen a club in a relegation battle weakening its team in the transfer market – it’s shocking!
“I can’t believe what they’ve done. Arsenal need to turn up in the right frame of mind for this Premier League game. As long as their attitude is right, there’s only one winner in this match.”
WHO WILL WIN AT GOODISON PARK?
In our view, Arsenal will head into the Premier League match against Everton as favourites.
The Gunners have been the best team in the English top flight so far this season and are on a roll now.
It is really hard to see Arsenal drop all three points on Merseyside today.
Yes, Everton have a new manager in charge now, and Sean Dyche will be determined to start his reign as the Toffees’ boss with a win.
And the Merseyside could score a goal.
But, we do not see Arsenal losing the match.
Yes, Arsenal could end up drawing the game, but there is no chance that the North London club will be so bad today that they will drop all three points against a team who could end up getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.
