Ex-Aston Villa says Arsenal still not at Tottenham level
Arsenal have been told they need more summer signings to close the gap on north London rivals Tottenham this season.
Arsenal have made some additions in the window as they want a return to the Champions League.
Marquinhos, Matt Turner, Fabio Vieira and Gabriel Jesus have all joined Mikel Arteta’s project at the Emirates Stadium in the hope of improving the chances for the next campaign.
Four additions could soon become five as Arsenal have agreed a deal with Manchester City for Oleksandr Zinchenko The fee is set at £30 million, while personal terms are yet to be agreed.
The 25-year-old will solve a problem in both full-back and deep midfield.

Next season, they will face the teams that finished in the top four last season – Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham.
All of these teams have taken steps to strengthen, potentially putting Arsenal at a disadvantage, even though they have their own players.
That seems to be the view of former Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor, who says more is needed in the squad, despite some ‘great’ signings.
Speaking on Talksport, he said: “For Arsenal, signing Gabriel Jesus is a big statement, but they still need to work more. “We’re talking about Zinchenko, who I think would be a great signing, a great addition.
He is versatile but maybe they need another right winger to replace Bukayo Saka because Nicolas Pepe is not.
“These teams know that they have to keep improving their squad because the battle for the top four will get harder and harder. Arsenal don’t want to be interrupted. They want to bring in the best players. , the best because Spurs are doing the same thing Spurs have had a great chance so it will be even harder this season to get into the top four and Man United fans, once again, will say that I don’t think ‘they have very much of achance to make it to the top four again this season.”
We won’t know exactly how much the new season will bring for any of the participating teams. However, it remains to be seen whether the Gunners will miss their best chance to return to Europe’s top stage.
