Final Green light given today: Man United finally reached agreement with 175k-a-week player; reds now want to complete deal as soon as possible before transfer window closes by Friday
Manchester United have reached an agreement on personal terms with Marc Cucurella after entering negotiations with Chelsea to loan the full-back for the season, according to Fabrizio Romano. Erik ten Hag’s side have been desperate to find a replacement for Luke Shaw after he suffered a muscular injury that is expected to rule him out for around three months.

Chelsea Full-Back Set for Season-Long Loan
It is understood that the Red Devils are focused on acquiring Cucurella and will not enter negotiations for another full-back, as they wish to complete a loan deal “as soon as possible”. The former Brighton man, who reportedly earns 175k per week at Chelsea, is understood to have agreed personal terms with the club and has given the green light for the move.
Chelsea are still yet to formally accept a loan offer as they want a larger fee for the defender than the £2 million initially proposed by United. The 25-year-old has struggled since his move last summer to West London in a deal worth over £60 million and is clearly out of favour under new manager Mauricio Pochettino. He is yet to register an appearance this season.
Despite the left-back’s recent struggles, there are reasons to be optimistic about his potential impact for Ten Hag’s side. He was not alone in the challenges he faced during a tumultuous season for his club, with several other players performing below their usual level. Prior to his move, he had been one of the hottest prospects in the transfer market and was even pursued by Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.
He has also had moments of brightness since his move to Stamford Bridge. One major highlight was his man-of-the-match performance during Chelsea’s 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund in the Round of 16 in the UEFA Champions League. His success in creating turnovers, winning headers and accurately distributing the ball resulted in high praise for the defender.
Man Utd Aim to Complete Marc Cucurella Deal Before Deadline
With the transfer window closing on Friday, United will be desperate to wrap up the deal and confirm their temporary replacement for Shaw. A move to the north of England is undoubtedly a chance for Cucurella to reestablish himself as a top-level full-back in the Premier League.
The former Brighton star may face a baptism of fire this weekend, as United travel to the Emirates to face Arsenal. Ten Hag’s side will be desperate to make a statement and secure the three points, following poor performances in their opening games. The Spanish full-back may be one of the first names on the team sheet, with Tyrell Malacia also unavailable due to injury.
