Arsenal

Finally signed and sealed – Arsenal completed the signing of 24yr world class player – deal valid till 2027

Arsenal have agreed a new four-year contract with William Saliba.

The deal will keep the 22-year-old at the Emirates Stadium until at least 2027. The new contract will now move on to the paperwork stage with both sides looking to get it signed.

Saliba’s existing terms were due to expire in 12 months, leaving Arsenal at risk of losing him for free next summer if they had not reached a new agreement.

There was strong interest in the France international from other sides in the Premier League and from abroad.

Saliba was a key player last season as Arsenal challenged for the Premier League title. He missed the last 11 games of the season through injury, which coincided with a drop in form for Arsenal and saw Mikel Arteta’s side slip from the top of the table into second.

Saliba follows his team-mates Bukayo Saka, Gabriel, Gabriel Martinelli and Aaron Ramsdale in agreeing a new contract with the north London side.

Saliba joined Arsenal from French side Saint-Etienne in 2019 but spent significant spells out on loan. He returned to Saint-Etienne for the rest of the 2019-20 season. He spent the first half of the 2020-21 campaign with Arsenal before moving to Nice in January.

He then had a season on loan with Marseille before returning to Arsenal last summer. Saliba played 27 times in all competitions as Arsenal qualified for the Champions League.
