First Deal Agreed – Man United in talks to sign teenage sensation ‘making all of Europe salivate’ ahead of Jan, Guardiola keen too – report

Manchester United has initiated discussions regarding the potential signing of Lille’s promising young center-back, Leny Yoro, reports French outlet Le10Sport.

Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, is also closely monitoring the 18-year-old, and according to the publication, Yoro’s performances have left a lasting impression on European clubs.

In light of the age of most of their current options in the central defensive positions, Manchester United is actively planning to bolster its defensive lineup.

Yoro, having featured in 16 games across Ligue 1 and the Europa Conference League this season, showcasing both defensive prowess and contributing two goals, has caught the attention of both Manchester United and Manchester City.

While the Red Devils have made a move, securing Yoro in January could prove challenging, given his established role and importance at Lille.

Standing at 6 feet 3 inches, the French youth international is keen to maintain regular playing time, aiming for a senior national team call-up ahead of the 2024 European Championships.

Yoro is not guaranteed a starting role if he opts to join Manchester United in January. As interest from other major European clubs grows, he might be inclined to postpone any decision until at least the next summer.

Despite Yoro’s considerable potential and the prospect of becoming a top player in the future, it’s important to note that he is still in the early stages of his career, having started first-team football last term.

Manchester United seeks immediate impact players, and Yoro may need more experience to secure a spot in the starting XI at this stage.

The club has taken tangible steps and is exploring options in the French top-flight league as the January transfer window approaches.

Initial contact has been established between Manchester United, Yoro, and Lille. However, the French club is eager to extend his contract, which is set to expire in 2025.
