French national media are now raving about 25-year-old Arsenal player, say he’s like De Bruyne

Arsenal’s style of play this season has earned Mikel Arteta’s side plenty of fans around the world.

French publication L’Equipe has been particularly impressed with one Arsenal star this campaign.

The Gunners ended 2022 in the perfect way, defeating a tough Brighton team away from home.

They face their next potential stumbling block tonight, when high-flying Newcastle visit The Emirates.

Arteta’s side aren’t even halfway through the season yet, but have already pulled out a seven-point lead over Manchester City.

It’s been a fantastic start, and a number of Arteta’s squad are currently playing the best football of their careers.

L’Equipe have been raving about Arsenal’s captain Martin Odegaard, and have compared him to Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne.

The pair are arguably the two best playmakers in the league right now.

In fact, Odegaard has outscored the Belgian in the Premier League this season, but can’t match his nine assists.

Odegaard compared to De Bruyne

The French outlet was full of praise for the Norwegian captain, and said that he and De Bruyne were, ‘two creative midfielders that you can spend long minutes watching until you come close to the light.’

‘Odegaard has influence, maturity and power in the Arsenal dressing room.’

The 25-year-old has received so much praise for his recent performances, and provided another goal and assist against Brighton.

Rio Ferdinand has said that Odegaard is ‘playing like Mozart at the minute’.

Garth Crooks named him in his team of the week, and said that he’s ‘capable of special things’.

Odegaard isn’t the loudest voice on the pitch, and is a very different type of leader to Granit Xhaka.

However, he leads by example when in possession, is brave on the ball, which ultimately leads to him creating brilliant chances.

It’s no surprise that Odegaard has been compared to De Bruyne based on his performances this season.

He’s been phenomenal for the Gunners this season, and is inspiring his young teammates to play at the very highest level.
