Manchester United

Friday morning done deal: £60m world class striker have finally signed for Man united, medical booked as announcement imminent

Manchester United are now preparing for a clash with Nottingham Forest as they look to get back to winning ways.

Erik ten Hag’s men were punished by Tottenham last weekend after another poor performance. The Red Devils were equally disappointing in their season opener with Wolves, despite picking up a win in that one. United need to improve and quickly, and new signings could be central to that ahead of the window closing in just over a week

With that in mind, we have rounded up all the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding Old Trafford.

Leonardo chase
United are said to be readying an offer for Santos striker Marcos Leonardo.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Ten Hag wants more depth up top, and he senses a bargain, with Santos wanting around £21.4million for the forward. Leonardo was said to be close to a move to AS Roma in early August, but a deal fell through.

In 32 appearances last season, the 20-year-old scored 16 times and assisted four. United will be keen to add competition for Rasmus Hojlund amid a likely exit for Anthony Martial.

Evans deal.

United are said to be closing in on a new contract for defender Jonny Evans.

According to The Telegraph, Evans is set to get a one-year deal at Old Trafford after doing enough to impress during his short-term pre-season contract. The centre-back returned to United to train over the course of the summer after leaving Leicester City at the end of his contract there, with the Foxes suffering relegation.

Evans is now 35 years of age, and it’s likely he will be used as emergency back-up at the centre-back position, but he has proven he can keep up with consistent perormances for Leicester over recent years. The veteran initially spent 11 years with United as a youngster and early in his career.
