‘GREAT NEWS’: Jurrien Timber return date finally announced as Player expected to be back in Arsenal next March day squad – Arsenal squad is now complete to compete with Man city for the title

Arsenal have had bad luck with injuries this season.

The likes of Thomas Partey, Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko have all missed key periods of this campaign, while the longest-term absentee has been Jurrien Timber.

The Dutch defender hasn’t been seen since the opening day of the season when he picked up an ACL injury against Nottingham Forest.

Timber looked to be an incredibly exciting addition to this squad in both pre-season and during the Community Shield against Manchester City, but we’ve not seen much of him for Arsenal so far.

Speaking on ShotsTV, Chris Wheatley has shared an update on Timber’s recovery, and he says that there’s an expectation that he will be back in full training at the end of the month.

Jurrien Timber getting closer to returning
Wheatley shared what he knows about the defender.

“We’re expecting him to be back by the end of the month in full training. It’s a really superb recovery for him after a horrible ACL injury against Nottingham Forest on the opening day of the season. Great news to see him back, I don’t think there’s pressure for him to start anytime soon, but they are happy to see him back in the squad,” Wheatley said.

Big boost
This is fantastic news for Arsenal as we head into the business end of the season.

Let’s not forget, the Gunners’ title challenge last season was derailed due to a lack of defensive depth, and it sounds as though they may well have the exact opposite situation this time around.

Indeed, it looks as though the Gunners’ defensive depth will be bolstered rather than weakened towards the end of the season.

Timber’s return will give Arsenal much-needed cover in all of their defensive positions, and even if he’s not back to his best before the end of the campaign, at least he’s another option for if an injury or suspension crisis strikes.
