‘He is bigger than Arsenal’: Jack Grealish CONFIRMED his £60M international teammate will be joining Liverpool in the summer ahead of Arsenal
Liverpool remain the favourites to sign Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount, despite Arsenal having joined the race.
That’s according to reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano, writing in his Daily Briefing for CaughtOffside’s Substack.
He claims the Reds are still the frontrunners to land the 24-year-old, although interest has stepped up from teams elsewhere.
“Despite reported interest from Arsenal in Mason Mount, Liverpool remain the favourites for the Chelsea midfielder as they consider Mount one of the priorities,” said Romano.
“But it all depends on Chelsea new deal negotiations and also the Chelsea manager situation.
“I think it’s not about Champions League football, it’s about the project; the real timing for Mount decision will be May/June, not now for sure.”
Liverpool remain the favourites to sign Mount
With the plethora of players being linked with Liverpool this summer, Mount appears to be the one most reliably reported.
The 24-year-old is out of favour at Chelsea, and his situation remains up in the air as he approaches the final 12 months of his current contract.
With this in mind, the Reds should seize their opportunity, as we think, in Jurgen Klopp’s system, the England international would fit extremely well.
Taking Jordan Henderson’s position as the right-sided central midfielder, Mount would allow Trent Alexander-Arnold to roam in that free role as the second six.
Furthermore, he would link up play with Mohamed Salah – overlapping the Egyptian when he goes to cut inside.
Overall, we think he would be a brilliant signing for Liverpool. Therefore, let’s hope we get this one across the line.
