‘He is my own best player in the team I don’t care about others people opinion’: Rio Ferdinand says Arsenal have a player who’s been even better than Saka this season – NOT Martinelli
Arsenal may have lost at the weekend, but we mustn’t forget just how well the Gunners have started this season.
The north London club may not be the force they were last season, but they have only lost one league game and they’re very much in the title race as things stand
Arsenal’s star players haven’t quite hit the heights they hit last term, but the team have been getting results.
So, who has been Arsenal’s best player this season? Well, in recent years, Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard have been the safest of bets when asked that question, but speaking on Five, Rio Ferdinand has named another player as Arsenal’s best this term.
Indeed, Ferdinand has gone on the record to say that Declan Rice has in fact been Arsenal’s best player this season, ahead of the likes of Saka and Odegaard.
Rice is Arsenal’s best player
Ferdinand gave his verdict on the midfielder.
“Declan Rice, he’s been your best player this year, he’s been your best player,” Ferdinand said.
Stepped up
Whether or not you think Rice has been Arsenal’s best player this season is up for debate, but it has to be said that he’s stepped up big time since joining the Gunners.
Rice had never kicked a ball in the Champions League before his £105m move to the Emirates, but he’s taken to life at a top Premier League club like a duck to water.
Rice wasn’t proven at the top level before making this move, but Arsenal took the risk on signing him, and their decision to bring the midfielder to the Emirates has certainly been justified.
The midfielder has been a brilliant signing so far, and long may this good form continue.
