Bayern Munich star Matthijs de Ligt has made it known to his friends that he wants to join Manchester United this summer.
According to a report from Football Insider, Matthijs de Ligt is keen on joining Manchester United as soon as possible. The Bayern Munich defensive sensation has informed his friends that he wants to play at the Old Trafford in the 2024/25 season.
De Ligt made a name for himself quite early in his career. He led his childhood club Ajax to the semi-finals of the Champions League as a teenager before securing a big-money move to Juventus. Things haven’t really worked out for him since leaving the Dutch club.
Bayern Munich ready to sell De Ligt?
He has struggled with injuries as well as form during his time in Turin and now in Munich. While he has done a decent job over the last two seasons for Bayern Munich, the Dutch international is keen on leaving the club and the German giants are ready to sell as long as their asking price is met.
They have already identified an ideal alternative in Jonathan Tah and have agreed on a deal in principle with Bayer Leverkusen for his services. As a result, they are more than happy to let De Ligt join United if they agree to pay £50 million.
De Ligt wants to join the Red Devils
While the Red Devils have already added Leny Yoro to their squad, they seek more quality and depth at the back. Yoro can surely be an important first-team player but they need a more experienced campaigner and Erik ten Hag is keen on reuniting with De Ligt who has done wonders for him at Ajax.
The Manchester-based club are in negotiations with Bayern over a £50 million deal for the centre-back. With Tah closing in on a move to Bayern, United are confident about securing the former Ajax skipper’s services.
The player’s stance is quite clear, he is very keen on making the move to Old Trafford. He considers it to be an ideal next step in his career. He has already informed his friends that he wants the move to go through as soon as possible.
