He is the main reason why I’m still at Arsenal,He showed up for me when everyone turned their back at me’: Trossard names £70m as His best friend at Arsenal – NOT ØDEGAARD,Not Saliba

Bukayo Saka’s fine Premier League form is coming as no surprise to Arsenal team-mate Leandro Trossard after the Belgium international witnessed his ‘potential’ at close quarters for Brighton and Hove Albion.

It might not be hitting Thierry Henry/Dennis Berkgamp levels. At least, not quite yet. But the Bukayo Saka/ Leandro Trossard partnership is flourishing by the game, the twinkle-toed pair combing beautifully for an Arsenal side who moved top of the Premier League table following Saturday’s dramatic 1-0 win at Brentford.

Trossard has scored six goals for the Gunners in 2023/24, and every one of those has been assisted by the London Colney kid.

No wonder the former is so glowing in his praise for the latter’s performances, then, Saka turning provider for Kai Havertz as Arsenal snatched all three points in the 89th minute at Brentford.

Leandro Trossard raves about Bukayo Saka
“B (Saka) has so much quality,” Trossard tells the Arsenal website. “B has already shown (he can provide) that last pass. You need to be ready for it to come. Every goal, I got on the end of it. And hopefully there are many more to come.”

Trossard joined Arsenal in a £20 million deal from Brighton and Hove Albion in January. And, having gone head-to-head with Saka during his time at The Amex, the former Genk captain is not surprised to see him go from strength-to-strength in Arteta’s title-chasing side.

Start of a beautiful Arsenal friendship
“I wasn’t the full-back playing against him but you could see his talent already,” Trossard recalls. “I had to focus on my own game back then as well.

“But you could always see that he has such big potential. He’s such a great player.

Saka is just one shy of hitting double figures for assists already this season. Number ten could arrive against Lens on Wednesday night, Arsenal a win away from securing their place in the knockout rounds of the Champions League.
