He is the only Arsenal player that I admire most in the team,He reminds me of prime Fabregas and Wayne Rooney’: Michael Owen says Arsenal that One special talent who is irreplaceable in the squad

It hasn’t taken Declan Rice long to become a fan favourite at Arsenal.

When the England star was showcasing his qualities at West Ham United last season and Arsenal were blowing up in the Premier League title race.

Many Arsenal fans were calling for their club to sign the midfielder and they did just that in the summer by breaking their club-record transfer.

Fast forward to the present and Declan Rice is now, according to Michael Owen, ‘one of the signings of the season’, as he told Premier League Productions (12/02/24 at 10:45 pm).

The former striker added that he is also better than people first thought because he has got ‘more to his game’ than just being a sitting midfielder.

That has been displayed all season long from the 25-year-old and Arsenal fans got to see the best of it all against West Ham United on Sunday.

It was a thumping victory for Mikel Arteta’s men, with Declan Rice supplying two assists and scoring a wonder goal on his return to the London Stadium.

That was just the icing on the cake for a player and Michael Owen thinks he is just going to get ‘better and better’ with age and experience.

Declan Rice’s skill set
“What we have got here is a player who we used to think was a number six as a sitting midfield player, but I think he has got more to his game,” said Owen.

“Someone like Rodri at Manchester City is similar. They are so good at being a number six, but when they get into advanced positions, they are great finishers.

“I just think he is an all-round very good player – the way he plays, you can just see him getting better with age, his experience and playing with these better players.

“How can you say it for a £100 million player? He’s literally been one of the signings of the season. That’s why he cost that, you know what you are getting and he has played in the Premier League. He is young and English. All the boxes are ticked really. There aren’t big question marks on him coming to Arsenal. You are going to get longevity as well. He rarely gets injured. A good leader. And he has been Arsenal’s best player this season.”

Can Declan Rice lead Arsenal to the Premier League title?
Whilst a lot of people talk about Arsenal needing that number nine, it’s the defence that is going to win you the Premier League title.

After 24 Premier League games, Arsenal have the best defence in the league and if they can keep that up, then they will become champions.

They have enough goals around their squad from Gabriel Martinelli to Martin Odegaard to win enough games, it’s just about being clinical.

With the season now in the crunch moments, this is where Arsenal fans will be hoping their players have left their best performance until last.
