‘He is the only player who can save Arsenal current situation, unless they bring Him back Arsenal can never win anything good’: Chris Sutton suggests Arsenal should bring £25m player back to the Emirates now before is too late – Not Aubameyang

Arsenal have some serious problems at the moment.

The Gunners have lost three of their last five league games and their title challenge is in danger of transforming into a top four push.

Arsenal have big problems in terms of scoring goals, but there’s also a clear issue at left-back right now.

Oleksandr Zinchenko is injured, and both Jakub Kiwior and Takehiro Tomiyasu were far from convincing against Fulham.

Speaking on BBC 606, Chris Sutton has been discussing Arsenal’s left-back situation with a caller, and he’s suggested that bringing Kieran Tierney back from his loan early wouldn’t be a bad idea.

Bring Tierney back
Sutton spoke about the £25m man coming back to Arsenal.

“Kiwior at left-back, he is not a full-back, he is a centre-back. Why not recall Kieran Tierney?” The caller said.

“Good shout, does he have a recall? Does he have a recall after six months? Why did you let Tierney go in the first place? Maybe he wanted to play football, but it’s a good point,” Sutton said.

Change system
Bringing Tierney back does sound like a good idea in theory, but, in practice, this may not be a good move for Arsenal.

Yes, Tierney is a more natural full-back than either Kiwior or Tomiyasu, but since when have Arsenal played with a traditional full-back down the left?

We’ve seen for the past 18 months that Mikel Arteta now likes to use an inverted full-back in that position, and, ultimately, that’s why Tierney isn’t at the club right now.

Of course, a system change is possible, and there is an argument to make that Arteta should switch things up, but it’s a bold move to make to accommodate a player who was well and truly out of favour in the summer.

Bringing Tierney back to Arsenal is an interesting idea, that’s for sure.
