‘He’d love to’: Romano says it’d take Arsenal just ‘five minutes’ to convince ‘unstoppable’ star to join them

Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move to sign Shakhtar Donetsk star Mykhaylo Mudryk, and Fabrizio Romano has an update on the situation.

The Ukraine international is rep[ortedly Arsenal’s priority target in the January transfer window. Branded as an ‘unstoppable’ player, he is an exceptional talent and would fit in really well in Mikel Arteta’s side.

Fabrizio Romano says Mykhylo Mudryk would agree personal terms with Arsenal in just five minutes

Just last week, Romano revealed that Arsenal have submitted an official bid to sign Mudryk. The Gunners offered £35.4 million plus £17.7 million in add-ons (€40m+€20m), but that was rejected by Shakhtar.

The Ukrainian giants have publicly stated that they want £85 million (€100m) for Mudryk, but it doesn’t look like Arsenal are willing to pay that much.

Romano has claimed now that a second bid from the Gunners has gone in and this one guarantees a base fee of £44.2 million (€50m) plus potential add-ons.

Shakhtar are yet to respond to the offer, at the time of writing, but the good thing for Arteta and Edu is that there aren’t going to be any problems with respect to personal terms. Romano has revealed that it would take just ‘five minutes’ for that to be sorted out between the two parties.

The journalist said in a video on his YouTube channel: “Arsenal submitted, on Monday, so today, a new official bid for Mykhaylo Mudryk, which is more than €50 million (£44.2m) guaranteed. Arsenal have made this new proposal, waiting for Shakhtar Donetsk to reply and decide.

“Let me clarify one thing, on player’s side, there is no problem on personal terms because Mudryk would reach an agreement with Arsenal in five minutes, he’d love to join Arsenal, but the timing is important.

“Arsenal have to be fast because also Chelsea are interested. The player’s priority is Arsenal. Chelsea are moving, Chelsea are trying to move for Mykhaylo Mudryk. In case Arsenal’s deal collapses, Chelsea will be there, but now, Arsenal is the priority. The player wants Arsenal as a priority. Now it’s up to Arsenal and Shakhtar.”

Our View:

Arsenal really do look serious in their pursuit of Mudryk, who is an excellent player.

The 21-year-old, who mostly plays as a left winger, has scored 10 goals and provided eight assists for Shakhtar in all competitions since the start of this season.

His pace is absolutely frightening, his dribbling is really good and he has the potential to become an outstanding player in a few years’ time – just ask his old boss Roberto De Zerbi, who claimed last week that he can win the Ballon d’Or one day.

It will be interesting to see how this pans out in the coming days. Arsenal fans would surely love to see this deal go through before they take on Tottenham in the North London Derby on the 15th of this month.
