HERE WE GO: £25M Turkish star have finally agreed to join Arsenal on a long term deal, deal set to be completed tomorrow

Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur insist on signing Galatasaray centre-back Victor Nelsson this summer, according to Turkish outlet Fanatik.

The Gunners have had a fine start to the transfer window. They have already signed Kai Havertz while Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber could arrive this week

Timber is predominantly a central defender, who can also operate as a right-back, but the club continue to be linked with a move for another centre-back.

Sporting Lisbon’s Goncalo Inacio was recently mentioned as a target, and Fanatik now claim that Arsenal are vying with Spurs to land the services of Nelsson.

The 24-year-old was the subject of interest from Sevilla last summer, but Galatasaray convinced him to stay at the club for one more campaign.

The Dane is now determined to pursue a fresh challenge away from Istanbul. Galatasaray fear that his €25 million release clause could be triggered.

It is claimed that Nelsson is ‘persistently wanted’ by Arsenal and Spurs.

Arsenal unlikely to pursue another centre-back

Arsenal are currently loaded with central defensive options.

William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes are presently the undisputed choices. Timber, Jakub Kiwior, Ben White, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Rob Holding can also operate in the role.

Auston Trusty is another option in the squad after his loan spell at Birmingham City. In our view, it is unlikely that the club will invest on another centre-back this summer.

Instead, there could be a few departures. We believe Trusty and Holding could head for the exit door.

Hence, Spurs are more likely to sign Nelsson. Galatasaray have already offered €9m for Davinson Sanchez. He could be used as a makeweight by Spurs to land Nelsson for a lesser fee.
