HERE WE GO: £30M Star have finally agreed personal terms to sign for Arteta side Arsenal, player set to be on the Bench against Fulham tomorrow
Arsenal are reportedly considering making a swoop for Torino star Perr Schuurs this summer, as per the Italian outlet La Stampa.
Despite enjoying a stellar campaign last term, the Gunners failed to continue their momentum during the business end following the injury absence of William Saliba and Takehiro Tomiyasu.
So, Mikel Arteta has decided to sign a new defender to strengthen their backline and challenge on all fronts this season.
Arsenal have already purchased Jurrien Timber from Ajax Amsterdam in a £38m deal but after his serious knee issue, the North London club are now planning to sign a new defender to replace the Dutchman.
Several players have been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium over the last few weeks with Timothy Castagne and Kyle Walker-Peters being among them but Schuurs is now emerging as a serious option.
Schuurs to Arsenal
After moving to the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino last summer, the 23-year-old enjoyed a stellar debut campaign in Serie A last term, establishing himself as an integral part of Ivan Juric’s starting eleven.
So, it appears having been impressed by his recent displays for Torino, Arsenal have decided to register their interest in signing him to strengthen their backline.
According to the report by La Stampa(via Torino Granata), Arsenal are planning to sign a new defender this summer and have identified Schuurs as a serious target so, they could make a move to sign him over the coming days.
It has previously been reported that Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool are also plotting a swoop for the Dutchman to bolster their backline. Therefore, Arsenal are set to face fierce competition from the Premier League rivals in getting any potential deal done for Schuurs.
Torino are reportedly open to cashing-in on the 23-year-old if they receive an offer of around £34m from his potential suitors such as Arsenal. So, the Gunners will have to spend a reasonable amount of money to sign the defender.
Schuurs, standing at 6ft 3in tall, is a talented player and possesses the necessary attributes to play in Arteta’s possession-based style of football therefore, he would be a great signing for Arsenal if they purchase him this summer.
However, it is going to be interesting to see whether Arteta’s side eventually opt to make a concrete approach to sign Schuurs in this transfer window to replace Timber.
