Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz is open to joining Manchester United during the winter transfer window, according to Tuttomercatoweb (TMW).
The Brazil international signed for the Bianconeri from Aston Villa for £42 million last summer, but he has managed less than 500 minutes this term.
This has spread speculation regarding his future, and his agent Gianmaria Montesano is likely to meet him soon in Turin.
TMW claim that Luiz will only leave the Bianconeri for a top-level Premier League club like United or Manchester City.
He is unconvinced over the prospect of joining Fulham or Nottingham Forest this winter.
Luiz’s move to United could depend on Casemiro’s exit
The 26-year-old had an exceptional 2023/24 season with Villa. He bagged 10 goals and 10 assists from 53 games in all competitions.
Luiz impressed from the central and defensive midfield roles for the Midlands outfit. He would be a brilliant acquisition for United.
However, we don’t see a move happening unless the club can part ways with Casemiro during the ongoing transfer window.
Casemiro has clearly fallen out-of-favour under manager Ruben Amorim, and he was an unused substitute against Arsenal on Sunday.
Amorim preferred to play Toby Collyer over Casemiro which clearly indicates that the door is open for the Brazilian to leave the club.
Casemiro has been linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League. If he were to leave, United could recoup funds and save plenty of wages.
They could explore a loan deal for Luiz with an option to buy at the end of the campaign.
