Arsenal’s hopes of signing Shakhtar Donetsk star Mykhaylo Mudryk may have been boosted with Shakhtar chasing a potential replacement in Jeffinho.
The Gunners have been chasing Mudryk for months now, even going back to the final stages of the summer transfer window.
The Shakhtar wide man has enjoyed a sensational campaign, bagging 10 goals and eight assists in 18 games for the Ukrainian side.
Arsenal have now made Mudryk their top priority for January and it sounds like a deal is very much in the pipeline.
The Athletic’s David Ornstein claims that many in the game are currently expecting Arsenal to sign Mudryk, possibly in January.
Mudryk is allegedly ‘determined’ to make the move to North London and has made Arsenal his top destination.
Convincing Shakhtar to sell for a reasonable price seems to be the big stumbling block at this point but it looks like they may be preparing for Mudryk to join Arsenal after all.

UOL Esporte in Brazil claim that Shakhtar have started making enquiries to sign Botafogo winger Jeffinho.
You may think that’s a made up name but we promise you it’s very real.
Jeffinho is a quick, tricky winger who predominantly plays on the left flank and cuts in on his right foot… sounds an awful lot like a player in the same mould as Arsenal target Mudryk, doesn’t he?
It’s suggested that Jeffinho is valued at around €8million (£7million), with Shakhtar seemingly hopeful of signing him.
Shakhtar have a long history with Brazilian players.
Elano, Fernandinho, Fred, Jadson, Luiz Adriano, Willian, Douglas Costa, Alex Teixeira… the list just goes on and on.
Jeffinho could now join that list, just over a month since Mercado do Futebol in Brazil reported that Newcastle United and West Ham United want to sign the 22-year-old winger.
Arsenal will be hoping that both of their Premier League rivals miss out.
Jeffinho to Shakhtar could essentially pave the way for Mudryk to Arsenal, with the Ukrainians already thinking about their next wing wizard.
