HERE WE GO: Agent in London Colney today to complete move for £40m highly rated superstar, medical booked, all paperwork done, Arteta’s 4th signing

David Raya is seemingly on his way to Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal and will play for the Gunners this season.

Brentford manager Thomas Raya has told The London Evening Standard that David Raya will complete his move to Arsenal soon.

Raya will join Arsenal initially on a season-long loan deal.

According to The London Evening Standard, Arsenal will pay London and Premier League rivals Brentford a loan fee of £3 million for the Spain international goalkeeper.

The Gunners will have the option to make the loan deal permanent next summer for £27 million.

David Raya to join Arsenal from Brentford
Raya is out of contract at Brentford at the end of the season, but the 27-year-old will now extend his current deal before leaving for Arsenal.

The goalkeeper will not play for Brentford against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League this weekend.

Frank said about Raya and Arsenal on Friday: “We all know there have been a lot of rumours.

“I expect that deal will soon be completed with Arsenal. He is not here at the moment and he won’t be involved on Sunday.”

We believe that a loan deal for David Raya makes sense for Arsenal.

There is no need for Arsenal to splash a lot of money on a 27-year-old goalkeeper when they have got Aaron Ramsdale between the posts.

Yes, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta wants competition for Ramsdale, but we should not forget that the Englishman is a very good goalkeeper.

It would make sense for the Gunners to see how Raya does this season and whether he is able to step up to the challenge of playing for as big a club as Arsenal.

If Raya eventually becomes the number one goalkeeper at Arsenal in the coming months, then, yes, the North London club should make the loan deal permanent next summer.

Arsenal are aiming to win the Premier League this season and will also look to go far in the UEFA Champions League.
