Man Utd’s activity in the transfer market is not just limited to signing first-team players for the squad with the club also keen on improving the academy. They have now set their sights on Crystal Palace winger Samuel Lusale.
Manchester Evening News reported at the beginning of last month that the Red Devils were getting close to signing the 16-year-old.
Finally, after almost a month, it has been revealed by MUFC Youth on Twitter (X) that the club have reached a full agreement.
After long-drawn negotiations, Man Utd have finally landed their target. The Slovakian teenager was recently on Euros U-17 duty with his nation. He was also a part of the FA Youth Cup squad for Crystal Palace last year.
On Roc Nation’s Website, as mentioned by MEN, Lusale was described as “a quick, dynamic winger who is regarded as one of the most exciting attacking players in the UK at under-16 level. Comfortable playing off the right or left wing, his electrifying pace and direct running with the ball makes him a constant threat to the opposition defence. He is often the source of goals and assists for his team.”
Man Utd were able to land Lusale after the teenager rejected a scholarship offer. They now have added one more exciting young talent to the academy as they look to build an exciting future for the club in the coming years.
United fans have seen the emergence of the likes of Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo from the academy in recent seasons. The duo have gone on to establish themselves as two of Erik ten Hag’s most important players.
This is a clear indication to these youngsters that if they can thrive in the academy and show the quality they have consistently, Man Utd will give them a chance in the first team and value them as one of their very own.
Unlike a club like Chelsea who are looking to sell academy graduates like Conor Gallagher and Trevoh Chalobah to make pure profits, Man Utd value homegrown talent and all we can say is that Samuel Lusale has made a wise choice.
