‘Here we go’: Fabrizio Romano says Arsenal have just convinced ‘terrific’ star to leave his club and join Gunners

‘Here we go’, says Fabrizio Romano as Arsenal are now on the verge of signing Oleksandr Zinchenko from Premier League champions Manchester City.

Mikel Arteta and Edu have been desperate to bring in a left-sided defender. Lisandro Martinez was their top target, but after Manchester United decided to meet Ajax’s demands, the Gunners turned to Zinchenko, who is extremely versatile as well.

Fabrizio Romano says ‘here we go’ on Oleksandr Zinchenko to Arsenal

Arsenal have had a very good transfer window so far. Marquinhos, Fabio Vieira, Matt Turner and Gabriel Jesus have all come in, and it looks like Zinchenko is just about to join them.

On Saturday, Romano revealed that Arsenal and Manchester City had reached a verbal agreement on a fee for the transfer of Zinchenko to the Emirates. All that was left then was to get the paperwork ready and agree personal terms with the talented Ukrainian.

Now, it looks like that’s done as well. Fabrizio Romano revealed last night that Arsenal have convinced Zinchenko to join the Gunners this summer, and a medical is expected to take place this week.

It really does look like Zinchenko will become a new Arsenal player very, very soon.

Our view

Zinchenko to Arsenal makes so much sense.

The Gunners went into the market looking for a new left-back and a central midfielder. In Zinchenko, Arteta has a player who can fill in both of those roles, which is incredible for the Gunners.

Still only 25, the Ukrainian, branded as a ‘terrific’ player by Craig Burley, has proved himself in the Premier League. He is technically fantastic, is excellent on the ball, and his versatility is one of the biggest reasons why he’s so highly regarded.

If Arsenal can pull this off, it really will be an exceptional signing, and Arteta and Edu deserve a lot of praise.
