HERE WE GO: Kylian Mbappe finally rejects Real Madrid proposal to join Arsenal on a long term deal, paperwork done last night, player will arrive today for His medical as He is expected to make Arsenal premier league debut this week
Kylian Mbappe may have dropped the latest hint over a move to the Premier League during the January transfer window, through a recent post on social media. The France international has risen to become one of the game’s biggest superstars in the last five-years or so.
However, with that has brought about plenty of interest and transfer speculation in the transfer windows that have followed. The previous few summers have seen Mbappe touted with a possible exit from the French capital, only to end up signing a brand new contract.
That pattern could repeat itself as only six-months remain on his current deal, meaning that teams can open up discussion over a pre-contract agreement this month. Arsenal have been amongst those linked, alongside Real Madrid and Premier League title rivals Liverpool.
The 25-year-old has been quick to shutdown any talk of an agreement elsewhere so far though, leaving his situation wide open. “I haven’t made any decision on my future. I didn’t make a choice,” he said when asked about his future. “Nobody talks about my situation inside the club, it’s not a topic.”
That won’t stop the rumours persisting though, leaving his situation open to plenty of following in the months that lay ahead. The possibility of Arsenal landing the forward seem unlikely, due to the sheer cost of his wages and signing on bonuses, without even paying a transfer fee.
That’s not to say it may not happen though, with the Gunners in need of improving their forward line and the options available to them. Mbappe may well have hinted at a move and his ambitions that could drive a transfer in the coming months ahead through a social media post.
When posting a picture of himself with the Trophee Des Champions, the French equivalent of the Community Shield, he said: “Hungry for more.” It suggests that if a move is on the cards, then it would have to include the promise of trophies in the future, including the Premier League title.
Whether Arsenal can seal that, it remains to be seen, but it could prove to be a massive decision maker in the final few months of his contract.
