Man Utd manager, Erik ten Hag, is pressing to sign a new midfielder this summer and has identified Adrien Rabiot, formerly of Juventus as a potential option.

Rabiot was recently on international duty with France in the Euros 2024 where he played a significant role in Didier Deschamps’ team. Except for one game which he missed through suspension against Portugal, the ex-Juventus star started every single game.

The 29-year-old’s contract with the Italian giants came to an end last month and with Juventus moving towards a new project under Thiago Motta, the Frenchman’s future is still unclear. HITC have revealed that the player has an offer to stay in Turin.

The report also adds that the player, who has interest from SPL, wants to continue his career in Europe and has offered himself to Premier League giants likes Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United.

Italian publication, Calciomercato, have revealed that a contract of around €9 million net would be sufficient to convince Rabiot, which would work out to around £145,000 a week.

A versatile midfielder, Rabiot can play as a part of a double pivot in midfielder but can also play as an #8 if required. There have been times when he has filled in at left-back for France. How Man Utd would have killed to have this luxury last season!

Rabiot comes with his limitations. He might not be the most gifted on the ball but his football IQ and his understanding of the game makes sure he masks his limitations and accentuates his strengths. A physically gifted box-to-box midfielder, the Frenchman would be an upgrade on Scott McTominay.

Casemiro could leave Manchester United this summer, Man Utd will be one-man short in an already depleted midfield.

The department needs a shakeup and signing a player of Rabiot’s experience on a free transfer on a reasonable salary is a no-brainer. He would fit seamlessly into Erik ten Hag’s midfield and can establish himself as a key player in the seasons to come.
