Man Utd are closing in to seal a deal for the signing Mathhijs de Ligt after a drop in £42m valuation, as per the latest reports in the media.

As per today’s version of Manchester Evening News (news image provided below), Samuel Luckhurst has revealed ‘United close in on signing of Dutch Master Matt’.

The 24-year-old was the captain of Ten Hag’s Ajax squad that won the domestic double in Holland five years ago.

De Ligt remains a huge admirer of the Man Utd boss and would like to reunite with him at Old Trafford.

MEN claim Bayern Munich hired the services of the Netherlands center half for a fee of £68m from Juventus two years ago. Now, they only value him at £42m.

However, according to an article published by iNews today, the above mentioned valuation has dropped and the Bavarians are willing to sell the player for half the fee they paid to sign him.

The media outlet have mentioned that the German Bundesliga giants are now willing to come down to accept a deal worth £34m plus objectives.

The price tag of £34m on De Ligt should be considered a huge bargain by Man Utd as the player is entering his peak years and still has three years left on his deal with Bayern.

Ten Hag knows all about the qualities of his compatriot but will he be a hit in the Premier League? Only time will tell.
