‘He’s a great player,He is suppose to be playing for well organize team like City and not the other way round’: Pep Guardiola praises £60m Star who rejected city proposal to join Arsenal by January
Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal have been linked with Dani Olmo, and Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola’s verdict on the winger will encourage the Emirates Stadium faithful.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Arsenal are among the clubs who are interested in signing Dani Olmo from RB Leipzig.
Arsenal linked with Dani Olmo
The report in the Spanish news outlet has credited Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester City, Chelsea and Atletico Madrid with interest in Olmo as well.
The report has noted that Olmo has a release clause of €60 million (£52 million) in his contract, adding that the Spain international is open to leaving RB Leipzig.
City manager Pep Guardiola is a huge fan of the 25-year-old, who can play out wide or down the middle as a central attacking midfielder.
In December 2019, Guardiola described Olmo as “a top player” who “has a bright future”, adding that “he is an incredible player”, as quoted in The Mirror.
Olmo was then on the books of Dinamo Zagreb.
The Spaniard joined RB Leipzig in 2020.
My View: Dani Olmo would be a good signing for Arsenal
In my opinion, RB Leipzig winger Dani Olmo would be a good signing for Arsenal.
Olmo has progressed and developed a lot over the years and is now ready to take the next step in his career.
The 25-year-old’s ability to play in a number of positions in attack would also make him a perfect fit for Arsenal.
Yes, Arsenal do have a very good attacking unit that includes star wingers Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka, but the Gunners need to think of their squad depth and have to keep refreshing their team.
Olmo has scored two goals and given one assist in three Bundesliga matches this season.
The RB Leipzig no. 7 scored two goals and gave five assists in 15 league starts last season.
